Welcome to the Lantra CPD Programme on Human Factors in Veterinary Nursing. This course has been developed in collaboration with VetLed ltd who are experts in this field. This is the first module of four that will be made available and is on 'Taking a Human Factors Approach to Veterinary Practice and Nurse Training' and this will be available from 20th October 2025. This multi‑module course is designed for anyone involved in land management, land stewardship, farming, food production, or those just beginning a career in agriculture. Sustainable Land Management (SLM) is essential for supporting resilient farm businesses, enhancing biodiversity, protecting natural resources, and ensuring long-term food security across the UK. This course has been developed with industry consultation and guidance from national standards to ensure high‑quality, relevant training for modern land‑based work.

This is a six‑module course:

• Introduction to Sustainable Land Management
• Soil Management
• Water Management
• Resource Efficiency 
• Woodlands and Hedgerow Management
• Farm Habitats

This course is for you if you want to develop confidence and competence in sustainable land use, whether you work directly on farms, manage land resources, support rural enterprises, or contribute to the wider food and environment sector. You can dip in and out of the modules at any time, making it easy to fit learning around work and seasonal demands. 

The course takes approximately 3+ hours to complete and introduces core principles of sustainability, soil and water stewardship, carbon and greenhouse gas management, biodiversity enhancement, and practical actions that improve resilience and productivity on UK farms. It supports skills development aligned with National Occupational Standards and has been created using best‑practice guidance from across the land management and environmental sectors
